This was taken on a cold December evening at the entrace to Port Meadow in Oxford. The bridge was almost completely dark; we had to use torches to get around. The camera was on a tripod, and a burst of flash was used to illuminate Jeremy. The shutter was left open for 30 seconds, while I dashed around like a maniac in the darkness, making the light trails.
Jeremy had found this device at Habitat which was like a mini- cat-o'-nine-tails with a fairy light on the end of each strand. This is what we used to make the light trails; because there were lots of little bulbs, it produced lots of strands of light when I dragged it around.
