Mike is the owner of Asylum Books & Games in Aberdeen. The cat is called Yinkin. They're both very bright with Machiavellian leanings, though Yinkin is marginally more likely to be distracted by the smell of cooking meat.

Although it looks like a studio shot, this was taken using a compact camera in Mike's living room. The neat black background is actually a pair of dark blue velvet curtains; I've cropped the image so that they fill the frame to the edges.
