The Helioscope

Sheffield, 1995

This is a lot more sensible than it looks; there's a partial eclipse of the sun happening, and the lady in the foreground is using the cardboard box as a homemade helioscope. She's looking into a small viewing hole cut into the side of the box, above which is a pinhole which is projecting the image of the sun onto the inside.

As she was engrossed, I took an extra second to line the shot up so that she appears to be using the box to view a miniature boy, hanging in the air before her.
